The Nutcracker Ballet: A Photo Essay
I don't really have much to say, though I was waiting to post it until I maybe had a couple profound things. But I don't. I've danced since I was three, spent my whole life in ballet, and this was my last ever Nutcracker to perform in, maybe my last performance. It was bittersweet. Sweet because I love dancing, bitter because not only was it my last, performing lost some of it's sparkle this year, in all the aches and stress of not being good enough. But I enjoyed it all the same, and I hope that anyone who reads this appreciates the art of ballet. Because it is a beautiful thing.

ReplyDeleteI really LOVE these!!!!WOW so AMAZING!!!!
These photos are beautiful, Lillian. I have always secretly wanted to be a ballerina, and this photoessay brought all of that back up to the surface.
ReplyDeletethese are just stunning, Lillian! xoxo.
ReplyDeleteballet movements and costumes are always so stunningly beautiful.
ReplyDeletethis is more then incredible. and ditto to what hannah nicole said; (ohmyword, like DITTODITTO to what she said!)
ReplyDeleteps why will this be your last time dancing in the nutcracker? will you be too old next year or something? or are you moving away? :)
DeleteI'm a senior, so I'll be moving away/going to college, and probably wont participate, at least not in my school's productions.
DeleteI did ballet for 8 yrs, most of it in my childhood, and it was something I would've never have succeeded in! I consider you very fortunate to have danced until now—you must be very very good at it. I'm sure wherever God leads you, ballet will follow you; if not in the physical realm, most likely in the inspiration one. Keep dancing away in your mind, dreams & hopes.
ReplyDeleteAugh, Lillian. This is gorgeous. Ballet has a way of portraying words without saying them -- like photography!

whoa, Lillian. these are beautiful, girl. incredible... i can totally understand why it is bitter-sweet; i've never done ballet (although i would have loved to), but life is full of bitter-sweet moments. we change, and then go out the door of our lives--like leaves falling off a tree. the leaves--like different experiences--will come back, but not the same ones. perhaps that doesn't make sense... but it does to me. ;)
ReplyDeletethis is is so, so, so beautiful. :)

This is enchantingly beautiful. Lovely job. I took classical ballet lessons for ten years, then my schedule just didn't allow me to keep it up. So many wonderful memories... It seems like you will have a lovely collection of memories, too. :)
