Citrus Nectarine Scones


I'm not a fancy recipe tester or any of that, but I do love food.  Today I made some really tasty citrus nectarine scones, and if you're the type of person who likes scones you should probably make these too.  It has a honey sweet taste of nectarines, and a bit of lemon, and are suuper moist.

Citrus Nectarine Scones


2 cup flour
3 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup sugar
6 Tbs cold butter
1/4 cup cold cream
2 Nectarines
1-2 lemons, zested and juiced
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.  Peel and dice the nectarines, leaving as juicy or chunky as you'd like. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a dish.  Cut in the cold butter using two knives, a pastry cutter, or my personal favorite: scissors.  Using a pastry cutter or wooden spoon, mix in the cream, nectarines, and 1/3 of the zest. Get our your cookie sheet and cover with parchment paper. 
The dough will be wet, and look like it's curdled, but never fear!  Spoon the mixture into the cookie sheet in four 1/2 thick rounds.
Bake for 15-18 minutes, until golden brown and cooked to the center.  While the scones are baking, mix about 2 cups of powdered sugar, the rest of the lemon zest, and about a teaspoon each of lemon juice and cream.  This is for the glaze.  Mess around with the proportions until you like the way it tastes, and it drizzles well. Drizzle over the hot scones.  They taste just as good cold as they do hot, and I have no idea how long they'll keep, they get eaten up too quickly.
